One Student, One Orange,Initiative (#OrangeWednesday)
The "One Student, One Orange" is a collaborative effort between the Eastfield Foundation and OGA. The initiative has been providing students with nutritious oranges for free, across five primary schools since 2021. The"One Student, One Orange" initiative does not only contribute to their physical health but also supports local orange farmers through increased demand. The impact is multi-faceted, enhancing the nutritional intake of students, promoting local agriculture, and fostering a sense of community responsibility.
Big Tree Tourist Site Collaboration with Ministry of Tourism
OGA's collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism focuses on the rehabilitation of the Big Tree Tourist Site and the creation of linkages to on-farm and factory tourism. This initiative involves the refurbishment of the site, introduction of additional attractions, operationalization of a catering service, and establishment of links between the tourist site and the farm-to-factory tours for local and international tourists. production into tourism development while creating synergistic approaches that benefits individuals, orange growing communities andthe agricultural sector as a whole.
Rehabilitation of Old and/or Abandoned Farms.
The OGA's commitment to sustainability is evident in its initiative to rehabilitate old and/or abandoned farms. This initiative began in January 2023 and has successfully rehabilitated about 250 acres of orange farms under OGA's supervision as of March 2024. The impact of this initiative is far-reaching, enabling individual farmers to restore their land to productivity, increasing orange production and availability, and positively influencing livelihoods
