OGA’s policy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information the Orange Growers Association (OGA) collects through orangegrowersgh.org, why, and what you can ask OGA to do with it. OGA is a non-profit organisation committed to transparency, accountability and the protection of personal information, and follows Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

Who is responsible

The Orange Growers Association, No 7, Concord Link, Akyem Oda, Eastern Region, Ghana. Email info@orangegrowersgh.org, phone +233 26 446 4712.

What OGA collects

  • When you apply to join: your full name, your phone number and whether it is on WhatsApp, your community, district and region, the size of your orange farm, the varieties you grow, and how you heard about OGA.
  • When you send a message: your name, a phone number or email address, and your message.
  • When you visit: the site asks for nothing and sets no cookies. Like any website, the service that hosts it receives your device's internet address and basic details of each request, to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks.

Why OGA uses it

  • To handle your membership application, contact you about it and, once you are a member, about your membership.
  • To answer your message.
  • To keep the site running and secure.

OGA uses your application details because you agree to it when you send the form, and your message because you asked for a reply. OGA does not use either for anything else without asking you first, and never sells personal information.

Who sees it

Your application and your messages go to OGA's head office, where only the staff who handle membership and enquiries read them. OGA uses service providers to host the site and handle its email; they handle the information only on OGA's behalf, and their systems may store it outside Ghana. OGA shares it with no one else unless the law requires it.

Form entries may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How long OGA keeps it

Only as long as it is needed for the purposes above.

Keeping it safe

Entries travel over an encrypted connection and are read only by the staff who handle them.

Your rights

You can ask OGA:

  • for a copy of the personal information it holds about you;
  • to correct it if it is wrong;
  • to erase it, except what OGA must keep for administrative, legal or security purposes;
  • to stop using it in a way that causes you damage or distress;
  • to stop sending you news or other messages you did not ask for.

OGA makes no decisions about you by automated means. To use any of these rights, contact OGA at the address above. If you are not satisfied with OGA's answer, you can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.

Photos

If you appear in a photo on the site and want it removed, contact OGA and it will be taken down.

The site links to OGA's pages on Facebook and Instagram. Those services have their own privacy policies.

If OGA changes this policy, the new version will appear on this page with its date.
