Mr. Pig Donates Pickup Truck to Strengthen Partnership with Orange Growers Association (OGA)

The Orange Growers Association (OGA) has received a pickup truck from one of its long-standing partners, Mr. Pig, in a move aimed at strengthening collaboration and enhancing operational efficiency in promoting sustainable agriculture in Ghana.

“As stakeholders in the agricultural value chain, we deem it necessary to support organisations like OGA. We have worked closely with the Association since its inception, and this partnership continues to deliver mutual benefits while promoting sustainability,”

Mr. Gberbie stated.

Mr pig officially handed over at a brief ceremony held at the Association’s head office in Akim Oda, within the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region, on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

Presenting the pickup on behalf of Mr. Pig, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nii Gberbie, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting farmer-based organisations that play a critical role in Ghana’s agricultural value chain.

Mr. Pig, a community-driven farm known for producing premium pork through eco-friendly practices, has built an innovative collaboration with OGA and local orange farmers, particularly around Kyirimankani in the Akyemansa District.

Through this partnership, Mr pig and OGA repurpose surplus and blemished oranges that would otherwise go to waste into nutrient-rich feed for pigs. This approach not only reduces post-harvest losses for orange farmers but also contributes to healthier livestock and improved meat quality.

According to Mr. Gberbie, this circular agricultural model enhances animal welfare, minimizes environmental impact, and delivers tastier, more nutritious pork to consumers.s.

Receiving the pickup on behalf of the Association, the President of OGA, Nana Yaw Baffour Frimpong, expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Pig for the timely and thoughtful donation.

“This gesture strengthens our operational capacity and further deepens the long-standing partnership between OGA and Mr. Pig. We remain fully committed to sustaining this collaboration as we collectively promote responsible and profitable agriculture in Ghana,” he said.

Nana Yaw Baffour Frimpong also emphasized that the vehicle will support OGA’s activities across its chapters, including farmer engagement, monitoring, logistics, and outreach..
